What Is Big Walk?

Big Walk is a cooperative multiplayer adventure about teamwork and talking. You and a group of friends — anywhere from 2 to 12 players — trek across a vast, handcrafted island full of puzzles, challenges and discoveries. There is no combat, no health bar, no quest marker, no mini-map. What you get instead is an open world designed around one simple idea: you must stay in contact with your friends, using your voice, your wits, and a pocketful of toys.

The hook is the game's proximity-based voice chat. When you wander far from your group — and you will wander — their voices fade out. When you step behind a wall of soundproof glass, they disappear entirely. Suddenly the game becomes a giant game of charades: describing symbols, yelling directions across valleys, and inventing your own signals with walkie-talkies, laser pointers and flares. Talking in-game isn't a side feature; it is the game.

Big Walk comes from Melbourne studio House House (Push Me Pull You, Untitled Goose Game) and is published by Panic. It launched on August 4, 2026 for PC and Mac on Steam, the Mac App Store, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, with full crossplay between every platform. Critics greeted it with a 94 Metacritic score, and it's already being called one of the best co-op games in years.

Big Walk FAQ

Everything new players ask before their first walk — answered from the official FAQ and verified sources.

What is Big Walk?

Big Walk is a cooperative multiplayer adventure about teamwork and talking. Groups of 2–12 players explore a vast handcrafted island, solve environmental puzzles and stay in contact using in-game proximity voice and text chat. It's from House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game, published by Panic.

When was Big Walk released?

Big Walk launched on August 4, 2026 for Windows and Mac (Steam and Mac App Store), PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.

Who makes Big Walk?

Big Walk is developed by House House, a videogame company from Melbourne, Australia, known for Push Me Pull You and Untitled Goose Game. It's published by Panic. Environment art is by Kalonica Quigley, sound design by Em Halberstadt, and music by AKSFX.

How many players can play Big Walk?

Two or more players, with a maximum of 12. There is no single-player mode — the entire game is designed around cooperative multiplayer. The host chooses a 2-player, 3-player or 4+ player version of the world, and some puzzles adapt to that choice.

Does Big Walk have crossplay?

Yes. Big Walk supports crossplay, so players on Steam, Mac App Store, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 can all play together in the same session.

Is there a single-player mode in Big Walk?

No. Big Walk is entirely about teamwork and talking. Everything in the game is designed for cooperative multiplayer. You could start a game and wander a little as a lone player, but you won't get very far.

How much does Big Walk cost?

Big Walk is $19.99 on Steam, with a 25% launch discount bringing it to $14.99 during the launch window. Console pricing matches the standard $19.99 tier on PlayStation and Nintendo stores.

Does Big Walk have an ending?

Yes. Big Walk is a hand-crafted cooperative adventure meant to be played start to finish with a group of friends. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end — the final stretch of puzzles famously pulls together everything you learned along the way.

Do I need a microphone to play Big Walk?

No. Big Walk's in-game text chat has the same features — and the same intentional limitations — as the voice chat. It works with walkie-talkies, fades with distance and fails through soundproof glass. You can play the whole game with text chat only, though House House recommends voice for the full experience.

Can I play Big Walk with a controller?

Yes. Both mouse-and-keyboard and most game controllers work well on PC, and Big Walk has full controller support (including DualShock and the Switch 2 mouse mode). All controls are rebindable in Settings > Rebinding.

How long is Big Walk?

A full playthrough typically takes 20+ hours with a regular group, played across multiple sessions. The host's save keeps your progress, so you can return to the island night after night.

What are the Big Walk system requirements?

Minimum PC specs: Windows 10 64-bit, Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, 12 GB RAM, and a GTX 750 Ti 2GB / Radeon R7 370 2GB / Arc A380 6GB. On Mac: macOS 15 with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) and 16 GB RAM; M3 or newer is recommended.

Is Big Walk on Xbox?

No. As of launch, Big Walk is available on Windows, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, and House House has stated no other platforms are planned at this time.
