Big Walk Collectibles: Orbs, Maps & Hidden Rewards
Last verified: August 5, 2026 · Catalog growing daily as we verify each find.
Big Walk has no HUD and no collectible counter — which makes its collectibles feel like real discoveries instead of checklist chores. The island is packed with glowing orbs, paper maps, radios, gear and shortcuts, and almost everything you find does something. Here's every collectible type we've verified, what it does, and how to hunt it down.

The island hides its treasures in plain sight.
Glowing Orbs (The Island's Treasure)
The island's signature collectible is the glowing orb — a small, egg-shaped object that emits light, scattered across the world in dozens of locations. Players have affectionately nicknamed them "pears" and "eggy things" because of their shape. They're both treasure and ammunition:
- They feed the vice machines. Insert orbs into a vice and the machine processes them into usable objects. Some puzzles need exactly the number of orbs your group has found.
- They're visible from telescopes. Viewed through a scope, orbs glow — which turns hunting them into a legitimately fun game of "spot the light from the tower".
- They hide everywhere. Behind structures, inside nooks, on high ledges, near the tutorial grounds and across the island. Early footage shows orbs tucked behind the Lost & Found and around the first zone's landmarks.
Before hunting on foot, take a telescope tour. Mark every orb you can see from the tower, then split your group into pairs to collect them. Pairs, not solos — a few orb locations require a second player to reach, and carrying orbs back is safer with company.

Glowing orbs stand out against the pastel island.
Paper Maps
The paper map is the game's navigation collectible, and it's wonderfully physical: it lives inside your backpack, and reading it requires a friend to take the backpack off your shoulders. It's a small design decision that quietly forces cooperation every time your group needs directions.
Maps are findable items around the world rather than granted abilities — if your group hasn't found one yet, that's a goal worth setting. The map pairs beautifully with the map room, a giant island map that becomes available after enough puzzles and serves the whole group at once.
Radios & Music
Radio stations are scattered across the island, each playing its own song. They're landmarks, mood-setters and collectibles in one: you can take the radio itself and carry the music with you as you walk. Early players describe it like "when someone plays music on their phone during a hike" — a shared-space social tool as much as a collectible.
Hunting tip: if you hear music you haven't heard before, you're near a station you haven't found. Follow the sound; every station is worth grabbing.
Tools & Gear
Much of what you'll find is functional gear. These aren't always "collectibles" in the traditional sense, but the best ones are rare finds worth hunting:
- Walkie-talkies — pairs that let two players talk across long distances. The most valuable find in the game; grab every pair you see.
- Backpacks — carry space and home of the paper map.
- Flashlights — for dark places and signaling.
- Binoculars & laser pointers — spotting and directing at a distance.
- Flares — bright signals for marking your position.
- Megaphones — extend your voice beyond normal range.
- Hip items — wearable gear that frees your hands (and earns the "Big Help" achievement).
Big Rewards
Collecting and puzzle-solving unlock the island's major rewards — the collectibles that change how you travel:
- The train system. Red, yellow and green trains run between stations in the opening zone once you power them up. Fast travel, scenic rides, and the "Big Ride" achievement.
- The map room. A giant island map for plotting routes as a group. The "Big View" achievement.
- The chairlift. A scenic shortcut between elevations ("Big Sit").
- The telescope towers. Early-game scouting stations that make orb hunting possible.
Missable Shortcuts
Critics have confirmed that Big Walk hides totally missable shortcuts around the island — alternate routes that skip long detours, with no marker and no hint. These are pure discovery collectibles: poke around behind waterfalls, through caves, over ridges and behind structures. The game's final stretch also famously reuses everything you've found, so a shortcut you discover early can pay off for the whole playthrough.

Hunt in pairs, log everything.
Hunting Strategy
- Start at the tower. A telescope sweep reveals orbs and distant landmarks before you commit to a route.
- Work in pairs with a meeting point. Split up to cover ground, but agree on where to regroup — and take a walkie-talkie pair if the area is large.
- Check the Lost & Found after every session. Items you dropped or lost wind up there. It's the island's safety net for clumsy groups (and a reliable source of "wait, we had that?" moments).
- Listen. Music means a radio; clicks and hums mean a machine nearby. The island announces its collectibles.
- Log what you find. There's no in-game checklist, so your group's shared notes are the checklist. Naming orbs and landmarks together makes hunting faster every session.
